EDUCATION

Alvin teaches contemporary, improvisation, composition for secondary & post-secondary students. He has taught in over 50+ dance studios, competitions, festivals and institutions including H.S. Beal Secondary School, Centennial College, Western University, Fresh Dance Intensive and The Dance Project.

Alvin recently completed his certification teaching Gaga, under the mentorship of Bosmat Nissan and artistic guidance of Ohad Naharin, the artistic director of Batsheva Dance Company. This experience was generously funded and supported by Ontario Arts Council's Skills & Careers Development Grant for Artists of Colour & Canada Council for the Arts' Professional Development Grant.

CHOREOGRAPHY

Alvin offers movement exploration sessions to compose artistic material for performances, competitions, school commissions or auditions. His choreographic work has been presented in numerous dance competitions and festivals including Toronto Fringe Festival, Nuit Blanche and Toronto's Original Choreographer's Ball.

For students ages 16+, Alvin is currently working on a process called "Project Full-Length" where students are exposed to taking part or developing and creating an original full-length piece. Students get the opportunity to collaborate, compose original material, dive into movement research and present the piece on a professional theatre setting. Choreography, Mentorship & Artistic Guidance is provided by Alvin and guest collaborators.
