FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Is it a contemporary dance show?
- It's contemporary in a way that all performers from different styles of dance explores ideas that are contemporary, whether it is the music, the movement or the style. The show doesn't fall to one category. It is open for all types of performers, even those outside of dance.
What do you mean by artist explorations?
- The content of this showing focuses on our featured artists; us getting to know who they are and their journey to try something new, to think outside the box, to go outside their comfort zone. Some artists have shared personal experiences, told stories, explored tasks, explored emotions, challenged a criticism, voiced their opinions or simply move to a song they feel connected to.
What is the setting like?
- The environment provides an intimate tone where it opens the room for dancers to go deep into their exploration. It can be uncomfortable, personal, exciting, suspenseful and emotional all at the same time for both the audience and the performers, which can be super rewarding!
If I am a featured artist for the month, do I prepare something or is it purely improvisational?
- You can showcase a piece of your own work/choreography, a work-in-progress or completely improvise. The focus is the ideas you are trying to explore.
